Hi to everybody...had a good night and woke to a cloudy but still with some sunshine day...
gorgeous now...clouds are light and plenty of blue sky around...had my bubble bath and massage and very relaxed after both...![]()
Walked round for the paper afterwards and came back and are doing the washing today as we did intend to go into Bournemouth tomorrow but, unfortunately, the forecast is for rain most of the day so that's off now...was going to make bread this afternoon, but we're leaving it until tomorrow and I'm trying out a new recipe so will let you know if that works...
One thing about bread making is no loaf ever turns out the same as the previous one, which is odd as you're using the same ingredients and methods but each batch tastes different and has a different texture...bit like making pottery, you never know what's going to come out of your kiln...HLOL...
A relaxed afternoon is in store for us apart from hubby hanging up the washing...saw a couple of decent films last night that I recorded earlier in the week...White Sands with Willem Dafoe, Samual L. Jackson and Mickey Rourke...made in 1992 and a good thriller...don't make films like that anymore...and The Astronaut Farmer with Billy Bob Thornton and a cameo part by Bruce Willis and Bruce Dern as the father...a fantasy story of an impossible dream that succeeds only on screen but well acted and a nice film...both are worth a view...
That's it for now, hope you're all having a lovely weekend and are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all...

Big shop
@ 04.07.2009 – 16:43:45
Hi to everybody...had a good night and woke to clouds and a very light misty rain...decided we'd still have to go shopping and wanted to pick up some more Euros for France at the end of the month...so, of we go for the 11.15 bus and it's on time! Got into Poole and started shopping and walked through the market after calling in at the Bank for the Euros only to discover that part of the Bank is closed on a Saturday!! Brilliant...Anyway, did a big shop in Sainsbury's and walked along to Smiths that now has the PO in it and got into the right queue after standing in the wrong one for a few minutes...no signs indicating which one was right...had to wait a quarter of an hour while a couple discussed sending a passport or something somewhere and got to the counter...asked for our Euros and intended to pay by Switch...oh, no, nothing is that easy...'have you got a passport or driving licence?' 'No, why do we need those?...because HSBC isn't one of our banks so we can't except your card without identification...bus passes clearly aren't acceptable even though they've got our pics on them...did lose my cool at that and walked out of Smiths with a few choice swear words, mostly because standing anywhere for a quarter of an hour and a bit more in one spot knackers me...anyway, apart from that, we had a good shop and caught the 1.20 bus back home...they've decided to change the bus timetable to one at half past, one at twenty to the hour and another route altogether at 20 past the hour so if you miss that half hour slot you've got to wait forty minutes for the next bus!!! How bloody stupid...used to be on the hour, on the half hour and twenty past so far less time to wait should you miss one...sometimes I feel like despairing of this world...there's no logic to it anymore...
Came home and had lunch and then sat down upstairs and fell asleep...something I rarely do but was really tired...it was hot by the time we got home as the sun had come out and the clouds had drifted away but still I was very tired...the antibiotics haven't touched the white spot on the back of my throat so that must be something other than tonsilitis though my throat still feels a bit sore in general...will go back to the doc after our hols...don't want anybody checking it out before then and besides I've had it now since the first week of May or around that time I noticed it...my cat scratch seems to be healing up at last...can still see a red little mark where the claw went in but doesn't hurt now if I put any pressure on it...at least the antibiotics might have helped that...
Was going to make bread this afternoon but too darned whacked...LOL...just spending the rest of the day relaxing and besides hubby didn't go to bed until 6.30 and was up at 10 so he hasn't had much sleep today...hope you're all having a lovely weekend and are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all for now... -
What is it with Wimbledon?
@ 03.07.2009 – 18:49:49
Hi to everybody...just sat and watched the last set and the only match I've watched at Wimbledon to see Murray lose to Roddick and out of the final...What is it about Wimbledon and our British players? It's jinxed...we can't win it for love nor money...
Roddick played brilliantly from what I could see and Murray didn't play badly...but I do believe we put so much pressure on our players that they fold under it...might be better if they played in private...LOL...
Hmmm...depressing really...Murray has had a very good year, but when it comes to Wimbledon...oh, well...
Hope you have a good rest of the evening and send great big hugs to one and all... -
Disappointment
@ 03.07.2009 – 14:58:05
Hi to everybody...we were going to see Ice Age 3 on Monday but we're really nervous now about sitting in a stuffy cinema with lots of young ones as swine flu is now here in Bournemouth...it's only three weeks to our hols in France...damn flu! The film is in 3D too...really wanted to see it...hmmm...
Lovely afternoon now...clear blue sky and less muggy and doesn't look there's any rain around now...the water board reduced my direct debit considerably this year because I was well into credit with them, and they asked how come I'd used so little water last year compared to previous years??? DOH...because it rained non stop all bloody summer so didn't have to water the garden did I...
...
It'll be back up again if this hot weather continues for a few more weeks...
And the bill will increase again accordingly...LOL...oh, well...swings and roundabouts eh...
That's it for now...have a good afternoon and great big hugs to one and all... -
Clouds and very muggy
@ 03.07.2009 – 12:32:39
Hi to everybody...had one of those weird nights again last night...tried to go to sleep at 1 but realized I wasn't going to so got up, made a cup of tea with a couple of bics as I'd had a very small dinner, and came back to bed and read until 2.15 then tried again...successfully this time...woke again at 7 turned over and went back to sleep until 9.30 or so then got up at 10 so did have a good night in the end...
It's cloudy and very muggy today...sun is trying to break through but I'm out of energy at the moment...not lack of sleep, just the humidity I think...After breakfast, I went out into the garden to check my clematis to see whether it's still growing - usually flowers then wilts - only to discover the ants have set up an aphid farm on it...LOL...I'm afraid I cleared them all off the plant...wish the ants would find somewhere other than my lovely flowering climbers to have their farms...
Nothing exciting happening today...just hubby sleeping this afternoon from 2 to 3.45 then up and off to work at 4.30...at least it's Friday...
Meant to be a lot cooler this weekend...don't mind that as long as it doesn't rain...
So that's it for now...Hope you are all having a good day, are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all...

Scorcher again
@ 02.07.2009 – 12:48:09
Hi to everybody...didn't have a good night...couldn't get off to sleep after turning the light out at 1 and gave up at 2 and made myself a cup of tea with some wheatmeal bics as my stomach was rumbling and a paracetomol to get me off to sleep...it worked...LOL...well, until 5.30 when I turned over thinking that I'd had a nice long sleep...hmmmed...and went back to sleep again until 6.40 then turned on the radio at 9 to listen to In Our Time on the Empiricist philosopher/scientists of the Vienna School...was interesting but something funny happened at the end...a while back now I saw a series on how we, humans, evolved and the animals and fish that finally became us...the presenter caught a very primitive fish whose defence mechanism was to produce masses of mucous so that it was almost impossible to grasp...one fish could nearly fill a bucket with it and that was allegedly the fish that started off the journey of evolution for us...ever since I heard that, I thought that this is what must happen when our bodies detect an external threat...it produces an excessive amount of mucous, which I believe is triggered by this primal gene still existing in our DNA code...it was fine under water, but, for us, it's not good...we can literally drown in our own mucous if the body doesn't stop producing it...one way, when medication is not available quickly, is to hold your breath for as long as possible and the body gets the message to stop making it...I was thinking about this while listening to Melvyn Bragg's prog because I was coughing quite badly and nearly choking...and thinking about this perishing fish we've got in our gene bank, held my breath and sorted it out...the funny thing was, when the prog finished, Bragg told us what next week's subject is...the earliest life forms from which we evolved...LOL...hmmm...he's done this before, but this was very much spot on...

Have had a walk today round to Lidl's so a good couple of miles and it's another scorcher...
Don't think the blog meet is going to materialize...never mind...will happen again one day...
We also went into the Range to buy a card and we were stopped at the door and told we couldn't take our Lidl's carrier bag into the shop!! New rules...no large carrier bags allowed anymore after some people were caught with full bags leaving the shop without paying!! Bugger these thieves who spoil things for everybody else...I hate this security consciousness that's coming in everywhere now...makes you feel like a criminal before you've even got in the shops...Anyway, the security chap told us to take our bag to the customer services and they would look after it...we said, no, we're not doing that, you can look after it for us, so dropped it behind him and walked into the shop to get the card then paid for it and came back and collected our bag...HLOL...hubby was so annoyed, he nearly refused to go in the shop any more...
That's it for now...am cooling off after our walk...hope you are all having a good day, are managing to keep cool somehow and send great big hugs to one and all... -
Got it right today
@ 01.07.2009 – 14:28:20
Hi to everybody...sorry for posting this in the wrong blog - Ask or Answer!...got that wrong...HLOL...
Hi to everybody...woke up after a very good night to a scorcher today...
Had breakfast and decided we must try walking each day as we used to do when we got the paper every day...I didn't fancy a boiling walk on the heath so we took a walk round to the Range, Dunelms and TKMax and had a nice slow stroll round to them and back and around them...found another pair of the original active trousers I was looking for before and couldn't find so bought them...so comfortable for me especially around my midriff...anything tight and I'm in a lot of pain very quickly so these stretchy soft waist bands suit me perfectly...
It's 90 degrees in the shaded conservatory with the door open so very, very hot today...was a lovely walk though...do like walking slowly in hot weather as my back feels great...no stiffness whatsoever...
Lunch time now so nothing else to tell you...hope you are all having some lovely sunshine and having a good day and send great big hugs to one and all in the meantime... -
They got it wrong again
@ 30.06.2009 – 13:00:10
Hi to everybody...forecasters got it really wrong today...temp has dropped by ten degrees and it's pouring with rain here!...

Great big hugs to one and all... -
Really annoyed
@ 30.06.2009 – 11:56:34
Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night to an overcast but hot and humid day...had my mini breakfast of about two tablespoons of All Bran and a spoonful of honey and stood on the scales and I haven't lost an ounce off the four extra pounds I've put on...I don't eat anything now at all in the evening and have a very small dinner...last night I had less than an ounce of Penne with a small serving of sauce...I only had one slice of bread yesterday with my lunch so have no idea why I'm not losing it...it's sticking to me like bloody glue! Hmmm...I used to able to lose it quickly if I cut down on my food intake but it's not working anymore...realized the doc's given me a ten day course of antibiotics so should kill both my bad throat and the cat scratch...can still see both when I check them so a slow business getting rid of them...five more days to go now...
Saw 'Rescue Dawn' with Christian Bale last night directed by Werner Hertzog...Bale was very good in it, but a strange story and a very sad one too in parts...not a film I would usually watch about a US pilot's escape from Laos after a bombing raid in 1965, but Hertzog is a good director so did watch it...don't think he used CGI on his actors...because they were painfully thin in it by the end, and, in some parts, from the beginning, and Bale looked as if he'd lost a hell of a lot of weight by the end of it...can't be good for them physically if they did go on massive diets...
That's it for now, hubby's back to work today after his ten day holiday...no letter yet from the PO...getting beyond a farce now...just bloody annoying...Hope you have a good day, are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all... -
New kitchen flooring all down
@ 29.06.2009 – 14:53:51
Hi to everybody...everything was finished by 12.30 and now we've had lunch...hubby has vacuumed the hallway and the kitchen so all is tidy again...here's a couple of pics, but discovered it's really hard to photograph rooms...can only get part of them in so looks small...it's actually a fair size enough to eat in it comfortably...and sorry for the bottom one should have removed or at least tidied up my cushions on my chair...LOL...too lazy to go down and take another one...feels lovely to walk on...and looks fine too...just a faint fleck in it otherwise just a plain kitchen carpet so nothing thrilling...

Hope you have a lovely afternoon...boiling now!!
Great big hugs to one and all for now...
