Big Can and a Cigar box!!

by jenray @ 08.05.2008 - 19:53:31

Hi to everybody...music on a shoestring...HLOL...and it's great...

Great big hugs to one and all...

I'm useless!

by jenray @ 08.05.2008 - 19:05:11

Hi to everybody...well, had one of those days when it was game playing, reading blogs, writing my post, commenting where I thought I could, eating, drinking, smoking and doing sweet FA else...my game, URU, has reached a place where I'm completely beaten...I have to jump onto a plateau from a rotating tower on top of a huge ravine...and I have missed the bloody plateau yesterday and today so many times I've lost count and watched myself hurtling down into the ravine and back home to start again...hmmm....grrrrhhh...I'm told you can reach it if you leap at the right moment and in the exact right place, obviously I'm succeeding in doing neither and am growing very very frustrated, but no bad stomach so definitely am on the mend...:) If anything was going to give me a stress stomach this darned game would...I do enjoy playing it, but it's definitely very annoying at times...perfect timing is required to get through various obstacles or puzzles the creators call them...I want a game I can swan through happily no stress just doing a bit of this and a bit of that instead of falling off cliffs, not being able to get through doors that keep closing on me, or something similar...no only joking, I know it's a puzzle game and it's challenging I'll give it that...so really am enjoying playing it...but also very chuffed when I do actually get through one of the obstacles...also the Forum members are very helpful if you do need any assistance...hmmm...not a very exciting day...mostly spent in the virtual world today...HLOL...
Also, I spent several hours trying to download an additional game that was created for free...it kept dropping so only got half twice of 173 mg...I then discovered that the copy of Myst I bought has both free additions included in it that's why it's called the Complete Chronicles...DOH...what a dingbat!! Felt such a fool when UBISOFT the company informed me of this via the Forum...aaahh...the brain is definitely declining in my ageing body...:))
The wind outside has dropped at last, and it really was extremely gusty most of the day...got Heroes, Bones, Cold Case and Boston Legal tonight, but am recording the first and last and will watch them some other time...don't think I can face four hours of TV :)
So, my lovely friends, that's it for tonight, have a good relaxing evening, hope you have a restful night and sweet dreams, and great big hugs to one and all...

Sun and winds

by jenray @ 08.05.2008 - 11:25:20

Hi to everybody...had a good sleep and woke up to brilliant sunshine, listened to Melvyn Bragg's prog on the brain through history, then got up and intended to go for the paper. Hubby had to go to pick up some of his prescriptions so was already dressed and ready to go way before me...suggested he pick up some nic patches for me for the weekend instead of smoking...last time I used them I had an immediate allergic reaction but thought it might be worth another try...hmmm...he phoned me and told me they cost over £14 for seven!!! Damn! I'll smoke...HLOL...was going to walk round and meet him at the paper shop but there's a darned gale blowing out there, so decided against that...he's just arrived home so I'll sit in the garden instead for a while...well, if I don't get blown out of it...
Nothing more to add now so will send you all great big hugs and hope the sun is shining for you and that there's no wind...:)

Lovely Orang-utan

by jenray @ 07.05.2008 - 11:19:40

Hi to everybody...short personal post today but thought you'd like to read this instead...a really great letter...
Letters: Saved by an orang-utan

How an intelligent ape saved me from being eaten

Tuesday, 6 May 2008

Sir: You report on the resourcefulness of orang-utans (Picture Post, 29 April). I was visiting the orang-utan sanctuary at Camp Leakey in Central Kalimantan, Borneo, some years ago. On the first morning, while it was still dark. I went out and started to walk in the direction of the river along a wooden causeway. Dimly, I soon discerned a large orang-utan with a smaller one on her lap. As she had a friendly look, I stopped and spoke to her. In response she took my hand in a friendly way.

I stood there for a while trying to communicate to her, but when I made to leave I found that her grip was one of iron; I could not move. Time passed and the sky slowly lightened, and she suddenly released my hand. I said my goodbyes and set off down the causeway, but as I approached the river I became aware that a large crocodile, lying across the causeway some 50 yards ahead, was looking at me speculatively. I froze for a moment, as the croc started to turn towards me. We stared at each other eyeball to eyeball for what seemed an eternity; then it launched itself into the surrounding marsh, with a huge splash.

I walked back rapidly to the compound, waving as I passed the orang-utan. I told one of the Dayak guides my story and he laughed. He said the orang-utan, one who had been released into the wild but who returned every morning for her breakfast, was well aware that the crocodile was there, but also that they attacked only at night. Princess – she even had been given a name – had held me back until she judged the sky was light enough to deter it from having me for breakfast.

I took her a big bunch of bananas.

Great big hugs to one and all...

Gorgeous day...and can't do anything with it

by jenray @ 07.05.2008 - 11:15:56

Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night to brilliant sunshine again and no wind...darn it! Can't go anywhere today as hubby has to work tonight...hmmm...just our luck...oh, well...never mind.
Hope you're all having some as well...nothing planned just an ordinary day...great big hugs to one and all...

ooh, got down to the sea today

by jenray @ 06.05.2008 - 15:15:35

Hi to everybody...woke up to brilliant sunshine, got up, had breakfast, got dressed and decided today was the day we made it to the sea...caught a bus and reached the seashore and discovered that the wind was so strong we could nearly lie on it and it wasn't that warm either...:-/
We had decided to walk to Boscombe, do our week's shopping and catch a bus home from there. It didn't quite work out...by the time we had got just before half way there, we were exhausted battling against the wind so turned round and walked back to Bournemouth and caught a bus to Poole, where we did our shopping and returned home for 1.30 having left home at 10.30...and we were very hot because due to the wind, we had still got our winter clothes on, and two hours after we went out the day had heated up, and I was shedding mine while hubby carrying all the shopping had to keep his warm coat on still...we arrived home completely knackered...HLOL, but really glad to have actually got out...we had a lovely lunch at home and now hubby's finishing off the hoovering downstairs then he and I are going to have a relaxing afternoon...
Hope some of you still have the sun and those with rain get some soon...there's a lovely feel of Spring in the air today, but we really could do with a drop in the wind...only had the window open about four inches open in our living room and it was blowing things off our coffee table and even blew out the night light I light whenever I have a cigarette and it was deep inside a pot! Gives you some idea of the strength of it...
That's it for now, I'm going to play my game and see if I can make a complete hash it as I did last night...shouldn't have played it before going to bed because dreamed about it...HLOL...ah well...in the meantime, I send great big hugs to one and all...

Hmmm...Wii and me

by jenray @ 05.05.2008 - 20:53:08

Hi to everybody...well, we got down at last to have a proper go on the Wii Fitness, well hubby did and I watched and tried to do some alongside him but obviously not on the board...I came off as 71 years old balance wise...not surprising as I can't balance on a flat door let alone a small Wii board...the surprise was for hubby and for me was that he got 69 years old so we're both nine years older in years than we should be balance wise...hmmm....and he needs to lose a stone and a half to be completely fit...personally I think that's too light, but we given him three months to lose it...if he does the exercises, he could do it...first of all it told him that he was an ideal weight for his height and age, which rated him 25.99 or something like that then said if he wanted to keep really well he should be only 22...hmmm and that's where the losing a stone and a half came in...
We moved on then to the yoga exercises...I tried to do them alongside him and have concluded that with my back Yoga is out as well...can't do the balance tests, can't do the Yoga...four more to go...HLOL...I'm rapidly seeing my birthday present turning into a gym for hubby and a play thing for me...:) Oh, damn my back...I've spent all my life being so frustrated with it because it limits me so much...I'd love to exercise but really can't...anyway when he'd finished, we had a game of bowls on the Wii sports, and even then my darned shoulder played up and I lost two out of three, but hubby's definitely playing a heck of a lot better now than when he first started after tuition from moi...what an idiot...I should have left him to sort out his own mistakes...HLOL...
So that's it for now, have played my URU today and got through one whole section successfully...yippee...and tonight we're going to see The Hostage with Bruce Willis at ten because nothing else on worth watching....hubby's enjoying his birthday present now...the Box set of Cranford, North and South and Wives and Daughters by Mrs Gaskill, and watches them whenever there's a spare slot with nothing on...he loves them, which is good...you're supposed to enjoy your presents...nothing more to add now, have a good rest of the evening, and great big hugs to one and all...

Nothing new

by jenray @ 05.05.2008 - 11:54:13

Hi to everybody...good night's sleep, got up late and are now running incredibly late because decided to take some photos of our garden and put them on the Photography group...was waiting for my ceonothus to bloom...today, it's raining...AGAIN! Where's the damned sunny Bank Holiday promised us by the stupid weather forecasters...why do they get paid? It sure isn't for predicting the weather...I'll put my perishing seaweed out again...far more reliable...so I'm stuck in for yet another day...haven't been out now for four days...surprisingly calm considering...wouldn't have been if I wasn't hugely more relaxed now I've stopped being a non-smoker again...still staying to seven a day and that's fine...
I hope the sun is shining on some of you and that you're having a lovely Bank Hols...at the moment, it's been all work and little play here...Saturday we did nothing so maybe that counts as play but not in my books...LOL...
In the meantime, great big hugs to one and all...and be well...

ooh, swearing a lot

by jenray @ 04.05.2008 - 16:25:19

Hi to everybody on this glorious Bank Holiday Sunday...cloudy, chilly and showery...luvverly...just what the doc ordered for rest and recuperation for all you people who could have done with a sunny break from work and me to stop going stir crazy shut up at home...oh, well...as I said to Kev, I'm playing my game and there's more sun in it than there is in the real damned world...not sure I want to even come back to the darned world after the election with Boris the buffoon stunned into gobsmacked silence when they announced the results...panic embodied...clearly never expected to win, and clearly didn't want to...ever seen a choker chain on a man...well keep looking because that's what Boris is going to have around his balls from now on...the Conservative party and especially, Cameron, who must be shitting bricks now, is going to rein him in and imprison him in case he ruins their chances of winning the next election...:)) Here's hoping he escapes quite frequently and his true clown self emerges again for all to see...hmmm...that's all I'm going to say about the new Mayor of London...
I've increased my swearing this afternoon by a hundred fold...trying to get my avatar in my game to jump onto some crates reduced me to a gibbering swearing idiot as she jumped in the air, jumped past them, jumped round them, and bloody hell, would she jump on them...like hell she would, but eventually after the game got the idea that driving the players insane isn't the idea, my keyboard responded - I think it was screaming with pain actually I'd bashed the space bar so many times harder each time, that makes her jump - and she jumped onto the crates, over them and did what I'd been trying to make her do for twenty minutes...:) Now I've come out of it, because there's no point pushing my luck...next time I'm expecting her to turn round and swear back at me for being so crap with the controls...
That's it, my lovely probably wet friends, have a good rest of the day...Lost is back as well tonight for all you fans out there including moi, and great big hugs to one and all in the meantime...

Usual Bank hols

by jenray @ 04.05.2008 - 11:38:02

Hi to everybody...good night last night...slept right through...now it's housework today and have had my coconut massage and waiting for hubby to bring the Sunday newspaper home because it's too darned dreary and chilly to go out...
No plans today except work, doing the washing...(well hanging it up) changing the beds, vacuuming the house and my job of cooking the dinner tonight, the rest is hubby's....HLOL...I would do it if I could actually do it physically but can't unfortunately...I've got a lovely man here who doesn't moan about having to help out, doesn't half make me feel like a lazy so and so though...if we get most of it out of the way today, with a bit of luck, we might get the forecast sun tomorrow and get out...but not counting on it...usual Bank Holiday let down weatherwise....there's always Tuesday as well...so cross fingers the darned sun will stick its head out from behind the clouds one day...
That's it for now...have a great time even if you can't get out and a relaxed time too...great big hugs to one and all....
