Hi to everybody...hubby and I have just watched on Sky Indie a film called 'Thumbsucker' with Keanu Reeves, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lou Pucci, and found it very good indeed...I was quite surprised by it because a coming of age film can be pretty tedious, but this rang so many bells for me as a mother, for hubby as a father and the son's efforts to overcome what was seen as a problem, namely his thumbsucking still at the age of seventeen...if you want a thoughtful, intelligent film that doesn't drag anywhere, I can highly recommend this one...
We also saw prior to this on CNN, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran's address to the University of Columbia where he was introduced by the head of the University in a most impolite way but hubby and I thought he maintained a quiet dignity, his responses were intelligent, thought provoking, and it was clear there was a thinking man standing there whose country had suffered dreadfully at the hands of Saddam Hussein and the CIA over the last twenty eight years...one or two answers clearly were answered tongue in cheek concerning the fact that Iran doesn't have any homosexuals living in it so is not a problem there...and that women are honoured to such an extent that the legal responsibilities of the country and the family I presume all fall on the shoulders of the men so that women can be free to be what they are best at namely being mothers, but they have positions of authority as well in the government and are highly educated as well he stressed...if you get a chance to listen to him, it's well worth it...he was an academic prior to becoming Iran's President and his intelligence shows clearly...no doubt there's a degree of truth stretching about what goes on in his country, but overall the points he was making about many aspects of our world were all valid and worth noting...
So, my friends, that's it for tonight...I hope you have a restful one, sweet dreams and I send you all big hugs...
