Hi to everybody...good morning to you all...not quite sure where I am today bug wise...woke up at five in the morning and had to go downstairs and get myself a MaxLemsip...was definitely bunged up...woken up by hubby at nine to tell me Melvin Bragg's prog was about to start about Socrates. He bought me a cup of tea and I sat in bed and listened to it...very interesting, but didn't learn much new because already knew a fair bit about this particular philosopher...but still interesting to listen to the different experts on the subject...then got up and had breakfast and took another lemsip and went off to buy the papers with hubby whose still blocked up but improving slowly...this is definitely not a speedy bug...it's a stayer and hard to get rid of unfortunately...hmmm...damn...still don't know whether we're going to make the theatre on Saturday afternoon...
Outside, it's gorgeous but now the touch of winter coming is in the air...first time I've put on my proper winter coat and needed it too...but still a lovely pleasant walk round to the shop...
One thing...we did see a very moving and well acted film last night on Sky Indie called 'Yesterday'. It was about a South African woman and her daughter, Beauty, and her husband. He gave her AIDS and it was the story of her determination to survive until her daughter was old enough to go to school...the one thing that shocked me was the attitude of the other women in her village...they threw her and her husband out of it and there was absolutely no compassion or help offered...only one woman helped her and she was the teacher who wasn't from the village...it was also revealed that in a neighbouring village, when one woman discovered she had AIDS, they stoned her to death...as there are millions dying of the disease in Africa, this came as a shocking revelation...I also found the scene when the woman had to tell her husband what they both had terrible...but that's as far as I'll go with revealing anything else about it...hubby and I can both recommend it as a thought provoking, beautifully acted and very moving film about a disease that's been allowed to run rampant through the entirety of Africa and that's a crime against humanity...
So, my friends, a rather mundane morning overall, but just taking it easy now as I do feel I'm fighting something inside and I want to win out...as this is virtual land, I can safely hug you all and hope you all have a very good day, and that you'll avoid the darned germs and bugs floating around now... speak to you later...
