Hi to everybody...can you hear me frigging screaming...VIRGIN EFFING MEDIA's engineers have cut our telephone line off again!!! Our next door neighbour saw one working on the box opposite this morning and stopped and said don't you cut any of us off again, because they got cut off for two day last week as well and he assured him there were three spare places so no chance of that now and has cut us off again....I HATE VIRGIN MEDIA WITH A PASSION... It's the world's worst company and it's engineers are never available for quick repairs even though I've got my back I still don't get any speedier results...
Now, Kelly's coming and I can only hope if she tries to ring, she's remembered to bring my mobile number with her because I've got no phone until Tuesday, which is the first appointment to get reconnected...I was told as a gesture of goodwill I'll be refunded a week for the loss of the line as it's only two days I'll be losing it this time...usually that only happens after three...they ignored the fact that I've only just been reconnected on Wednesday after another five days out....I'm so angry...hubby's been trying to phone me all day long...his coach got in half an hour late as well so he's only just going to meet our son now...I hate sitting and fuming by myself...
So, my friends, that's my rotten news for now...I feel like bloody crying I'm so damned angry...
Big hugs to one and all for now....hope you're having a better weekend than I am at the moment...

No, Denzil, this is who we've been forced to use because BT can't supply broadband to us - we're too far away from the exchange to get it - so no choice but to use Virgin...we could stay with BT for the phone line but that would mean paying Virgin £25 plus the line rental and BT plus line rental as well...it's just so damned annoying I want to stand on the bloody roof top and tell BT and Virgin what I think of them...it won't make any difference if we said we're moving either..it's the clumsy damned engineers who are the problem...they pull the lines out while fixing somebody else's line...it crazy...

Thats annoying that your hands are tired like that. I suppose they're offering crappy service like that because they know that they can get away it!

It's mind boggling how bad service is nowadays for so many things...no wonder we're all so damned stressed. We're paying through the nose for rotten service and with no choice in a supposedly capitalist system where choice is paramount...it bloody isn't in most case nowadays...I wish I had a cig right now...one would have calmed me down but haven't got any since giving up in June...

- 24.11.2007 @ 16:55:04
I agree, we're supposed to have a choice but in reality we don't for a long time, there was only one choice in our area, who then went bust! Then Telewest took over the area only to be bought out by Virgin so I feel your pain although luckily its not been as bad for us as it has been for you!

And this is the system the bloody USA and Britain are trying to export round the world by fair means or foul...mostly the latter... as excellent with everybody having choice ...what a load of bollocks...between Microsoft, Virgin and Sky the choice left is for tiddlers who can only try to cut into their monopolies by small undercutting of price...we've been fed one hell of an enormous lie and have watched helplessly as these huge giants swallow up our world and give us crap back...

Sounds to me like it might be time for a switch too... it's no advert for customer service is it?

Like I said to Denzil...we've no choice...BT are useless as well for broadband...and can only have reduced rates on Virgin broadband if we take the phone line as well...aaahhh...I want to scream...

Maybe worth making threatening noises nevertheless... it just be enough.

Enough for what? If they turn round and say, well if you feel so strongly we'll have to let you go...then what do I do...grovel and say well I didn't mean it...
I hate them all...they're all useless...-

Have you considered other providers? There are lots out there....
-
- http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk
- 24.11.2007 @ 18:53:05
No there aren't, Usksider...all of them use BT lines and BT can't reach us for broadband, we're nearly three miles from the exchange...the most we can get is less the 250k which is useless...and they know it...that leaves only Virgin...even Sky hasn't got a way of reaching us yet here so no other choice...that's what's so frustrating...Virgin bought NTL and it owns the cable which brings us the broadband and phone and nobody else can access it unlike BT's lines..it's a racket...

- 24.11.2007 @ 19:07:07
That does make it a bit difficult I admit...
I'm in a similar situation. Not even any cable here and the exchange isn't capable of passing broadband at speeds greater than 2Mb on a good day, so things tend to be quite slow...
Do you know if there are any plans to upgrade your exchange?-
- http://www.jenniferhunter.co.uk
- 24.11.2007 @ 19:30:25
They assured Pipex our last provider that they had upgraded the exchange but they told us that the year before and we tried broadband then and it was useless, so tried this year after that reassurance only to discover it was a downright lie...no connection...if you get 2mg you're very lucky...as I said before with BT we were getting 250k and less, Pipex advised us to go to Virgin as we had no choice really...oh, it's just such a damn pain...and basically it's clumsy hands in a small space inside the Virgin boxes where the connections are...and mostly only briefly trained 'engineers' - that's a laugh for a start...we've got 4mg and our broadband...touch bloody wood and everything else...is working okay...it's just the damned phone line they keep pulling out...

Just have to hope they plug the 'phone back in, then leave everything alone for a while.

- 25.11.2007 @ 10:42:15
I can hope that, but don't trust Virgin's engineers one iota so it makes everything damned stressful...have we got a phone or haven't we every day...

Fingers crossed, eh? I hope things improve.

how awful for you...
no wonder you're steaming.
might be a good time to get together with the neighbours (are you all in the same boat?) and see what other options there are.
apart from anything else, you could all try to get the local newspaper interested...which may help put pressure on virgin?

I think they may baulk at stirring up Virgin because none of us have a choice over who we have to provide broadband and, if Virgin get shirty, I'm going to be Mrs. Popular for trying to get a better service...could test the water though...it might be just my neighbour and me who have been cut off but will think about your suggestion
Big hugs...

Hi jenray. Sorry to hear about your broadband woes. I hope things get cleared up sooner rather than later. I just signed the guestbook over at your website and gave a v brief critique of three of the paintings that particularly struck me. Speak soon! Zeds x

Extremely exasperating I'm sure : At least Virgin should refund the cost of the mobile 'phone calls that you've had to make whilst disconnected ;

- 24.11.2007 @ 19:24:52
They don't even refund you for the weekend's loss of line as...get this...they don't work at the weekends!!! I think I've heard everything now, and as for getting my mobile phone costs refunded, that's a non starter because it took them six months to refund us for the digital box they collected after we changed to Sky and then told us they hadn't then found they had then told us they were giving us a refund and it was half of what they said, then they refunded it all in the end only six months later...they are in a total meltdown as far as service is concerned...a great big headache as far as I'm concerned...

We had exactly the same thing happen at our campground last week. Our extended family member and security fellow lives there year round. I get very antsy if he can't connect with the outside world as there is no one around for a couple of miles.
So I hear your frustration!

I think someone should start looking for another company to provide your phone, or at the very least, threaten to swap. I could be wrong but I'm sure if you said you were thinking of changing, a certain company would start bending over backwards to make sure you stay with them
