Hi to one and all...have just finished watching the first of the new series of Boston Legal...an extra long one and it was absolutely brilliant...aahhh...it's so good to watch such a well written, pointed, humorous, compassionate and just amazing series...can't praise it enough...love it to pieces...HLOL...
And, now, my friends, I'm heading for bed. Been a better day today head wise, stomach wise and now, with a bit of luck, night wise for me as well...hope you have a restful night, sweet dreams, and great big hugs to everybody...

Seriously sad news
@ 31.01.2008 – 15:29:41
Hi to one and all...just a bit of sad news we heard today at dinner time...Miles Kington died today at only 66. Some of you might have heard of him if you like Jazz or read the Independent, or listen to the radio where he was on several different shows a lot...he played the base in his Jazz career, wrote Jazz reviews, he also wrote some of the funniest skits in the paper on the general meeting of the Gods and what they discussed. Kev would have loved him if he didn't already know him...same type of lovely zany humour.
It brought a tear to my eye when I heard the news of his death. We are short of talented people with great senses of humour...my hubby and I will miss him a lot. He wrote his last piece for the Independent only last week and I believe it has yet to appear, and, as yet, I don't know why he died either.
Here's some information so far..
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/media/miles-kington-polymath-wit-and-jazz-aficionado-dies-at-66-776222.html
So, my friends, on that rather sad note, have a good rest of the afternoon, and big hugs to everybody... -
Good grief
@ 31.01.2008 – 10:59:38
Hi to one and all...woke up this morning at 9 when the alarm clock went off for In our Time on the radio, and heard a howling gale and rain outside and decided bed was definitely the best place to be. Only had a couple of times up in the night but did sleep deeply in between, thank goodness. Still howling gale and rain two hours later, so no going for walks today unfortunately.
Hope my stomach continues to improve as it does seem to have settled down a bit after nine days on the doc's medication...will probably not bother to traipse all the way over to the surgery tomorrow for the appointment he made for me in case it was still giving me trouble.
Still in dressing gown, so a really lazy morning for both of us, but both of us are calmer now the damned interview with the boss is out of the way, and, although, his decision is a harsh one in my, my hubbies, and his friend's at work opinion, if he can get through this year with very few days off, the slate is wiped clean for next year...
So my friends, I hope you have a good day, that the weather is better where you are, and big hugs to everybody... -
Z - A Sentences
@ 30.01.2008 – 23:33:10
Hi to one and all...here's a reverse one Z to A instead...HLOL...
Zing your x.rays whirling via underground tracks, swerving round quixotic pillars, over naughty monks, leaping kerbs, just inside hot greasy footpaths ending doctor's calculations blinking abruptly.
I hope you have a restful night, sweet dreams and big hugs to everybody....

A to Z sentences
@ 30.01.2008 – 18:56:42
Hi to one and all...just a bit of fun with the A to Z sentences...
Here goes...As bad children do eat fish, greedy hogs ingest jellied kippers, lazy monkeys nibble oranges, pernickety quislings ravage sweet toffees, underlings vomit, while xanthic yokels zigzag.
Think that's one...HLOL...Big hugs to one and all and have a good evening...

Tired tonight
@ 29.01.2008 – 22:24:56
Hi to one and all...saw a very interesting Horizon tonight on BBC2 on Gravity and what on earth is it?...now I'm really tired tonight.
I think I may even have an early night, but a bit worried about trying that in case I sleep now and end up awake in the early hours...but having trouble keeping my eyes open because think I've got the beginnings of a cold...or it's just blocked sinuses from the heating...
Oh, well...whatever...I can't stop yawning, so think I'm going to start getting ready for bed soon.
Have a restful night, and sweet dreams and big hugs to you all...hope anybody not feeling too well tonight wakes up feeling a lot better.... -
Must see :)
@ 29.01.2008 – 12:14:38
Hi to one and all...following up on Prydwen's post on the MacDonald's A level...I mentioned a film that reminded me of such a situation...I couldn't remember it's name and haven't seen it for years, and would you believe..it's on Sky Premiere next week every day and it's called 'Idiocracy'...It was meant to be a satirical look at the dumbing down of the USA public and going forward into the future to see the possible results of what's happening today...and it's very funny and worth seeing I think considering we're well under way now in the dumbing down business...HLOL...It wasn't very well received in the USA and small wonder...but really is horribly relevant today even more so than a few years back....Oh, and the plumber came, did an excellent job and charged a very, very reasonable price...well done to her...

That's it for now...have a good afternoon...big hugs to you all... -

@ 29.01.2008 – 09:31:12
Hi to one and all...saw every two hours throughout the night more or less and had to get up at eight because the plumber is coming to fix some washers on two taps and to sort out the back flow from our bathroom sink into the bath next to it...lovely way they did our plumbing there...both connected so if one blocks up, they both do...yuk...oh, well, with luck, she'll fix it today...don't feel too bad and had breakfast with no side effects...yet...LOL...
When she's gone, we'll take a walk round for the paper and I think we'll take the long way round over the heath because I need to get out and it's lovely too...
Nothing else happening today, so I hope you all have a very good day, and send big hugs to everyone... -

Swear box
@ 26.01.2008 – 22:56:27
Hi to one and all...saw Shameless tonight and 'Brother' by Takeshi Kitano, a Japanese Yakuza film...seen many of his films now and they're bloody but very entertaining...I recorded both progs during the week and it was a good thing because there's so little on TV on a Saturday now...there's nothing worth watching after them so thought I'd have a quick play of my on line games and lost the level I'm on about six times and decided to throw in the towel before I changed the colour of the walls in the bedroom to indigo blue instead of soft lavender...I've just said to my hubby that I need to start a swear box because, at the end of the year, at this rate, I could take us both on a holiday of a lifetime...these games are making me swear and curse like a navvy...smack hands, Jen, this is not at all lady like...give us a clue, my female friends, what is being a lady like, because I don't think I've ever been one in my life...HLOL...even I get fed up with my swearing...it has increased greatly since I've given up smoking...think it's a safety valve for the volcanic emotions I experience when I lose at a game or make a mess of something, or get intensely annoyed with something...

If I ever come round again, I think I will definitely have to be a very well mannered lady who has learned to control her emotions and keep the lid on everything...HLOL...poor cow won't know what hit her if it's me inside her trying to learn how to be her...howzabout that for a schizoid character...
Maybe that's what causes schizoid characters...the new life doesn't separate from the previous life...so there's a continual conflict going inside for dominance...shouldn't be flippant about such a terrible affliction, but life is weird enough to make such a proposal a very faint possibility...enough of this...
Time, my friends, to hope you've had a good day, to wish you a restful night, sweet dreams and big hugs to you all... -
Sun, and bus shock
@ 26.01.2008 – 14:46:12
Hi to one and all...woke up to a lovely sunny day and only one trip out of bed at the usual hour of 3.40 or thereabouts then went back to sleep until 8, had my pill for my stomach and then got up at 9 because we were going shopping in Poole this morning...we were shocked to discover that the red bus company has changed the bus timetable...now there are no buses in the evening after 5.30 in the evening...can you believe it!! So, if we want to go into Poole in the evening after that time we have to take a taxi there and back...and this is the way our council deals with getting people out of their cars and into using public transport??? What a damned farce...deep deep sighs...this world is frigging nuts! How dare they talk about carbon emission and then have a public transport service that is worthy of a developing country rather than a very wealthy country, which we still are. It's actually getting worse by the week now. The timetables change and we suddenly find ourself with a bus route wiped out altogether or changed and we didn't know it. Anyway, we managed to catch the new bus or rather the old damned bus that is now a new number and it was packed to the brim with people standing. I got on and a young mother whose baby was lying right across one of the pull down seats sound asleep picked him up and put him on her lap and let me sit down because my back certainly couldn't have stood being ricocheted around the bus, which was happening as the driver drove on the brake and very fast round corners...I got some dirty looks from some of the more elderly women standing but, in the end, I have to say I don't damn well give a toss what they think, my back is fragile and that's the end of it...as it was even sitting down my back was jerked around and when I got off it was nearly ten minutes before the rod settled down again to being just there and not as stiff as a board.
One thing also really peeved me. I've been a customer at the Body Shop now for about 37 years...I've bought my cucumber cleansing milk there for all those years and never found a better cleanser for my skin, which tends to be allergic to a heck of a lot of things in other cleansers. L'Oreal bought out The Body Shop much to my disgust with Anita Roddick because that to me was a real sell out, but hoped that things wouldn't change too much. I was wrong...I went in this morning to buy my new supply of the cleanser and was told 'very sorry, they don't do it any more. It's one they decided to phase out as it had been going for years...and there were no toners and some other waste of money to go with it and so they've ceased making it! It was the Body Shop's primary seller and the cleanser she created in her kitchen and sold by mail order and which I started buying from its first foray into the beauty market and they've stopped selling it I was told by a very apologetic and very nice young woman! Damn them. I was told by a different young woman who was a cheeky, spotty little twit behind the counter that it was nothing to do with L'Oreal, they just decided to stop it because there were others now selling better with toners and facial washes to go with them...I want to smack her silly overly made up face for her audacity...I bought another one with Aloes for Sensitive skins (a pound dearer and 200ml instead of 250ml) because I wasn't sure whether I'd find any more elsewhere and decided there and then that's my last visit to the damned Body Shop.
Came home and found four bottles for sale on ebay, and none anywhere else so I guess all the people who have used it for years have bought up all the remaining supplies...why can't anything stay the same if it works, and people like it? Phew...loud curses resounding round room, and I'll stop now
Have a good afternoon, my friends, sorry for this big ear bender but this is very, very annoying...not the end of the world, but annoying in both cases...so big hugs to you all while I go away and try and get my head together all over again...HLOL...

Hmmm...had a thought
@ 24.01.2008 – 23:47:16
Hi to one and all...had a thought this afternoon but have been too busy to write it out until now...once upon a time, when I was a Christian, just before I went to sleep I would bring every man, woman and child on the earth to God to protect and love, and used to feel that in that prayer nobody anywhere in the moment in time would be without somebody loving them. The thought that struck me is how can I now do a similar thing but from the perspective of an atheist? How does an atheist reach out to every man, woman and child and believe that in that moment each of them is loved and cherished? I suppose I've got to believe that there's sufficient love in my own heart to embrace them all, and I suppose to a pretty large extent that could be true but it's not something I actually do any more because I don't pray now before I go to sleep. I realised that maybe now an awful lot of people have lost their faith in religions and a god or still believe but rarely pray except when in trouble that this reaching out to everybody with love is fast disappearing. I'm not looking back in a nostalgic way to what I once did each night, but just wish I'd found another way of doing the same thing without the belief any more in a deity. In other words, I don't know who to bring them all to any more?
Any thoughts out there on this odd dilemma?
In the meantime, my friends, I hope you have a restful night, sweet dreams and send you all big hugs... -

Well it worked..nearly.
@ 24.01.2008 – 13:02:12
Hi to one and all...well my change of routine did work last night to some extent..namely, only had to get up at 3.30, 5.30 and 6.55 HLOL...so cut the yoyoing down by half, which is a good thing...
Must have had a good night's sleep in between because wiped the floor with hubby playing bowls on the Wii today
I actually got seven strikes in a row five in a row on one game then continued into the second with two more!! Now that's what I call being on form...mind you, hubby did remember to move the table out of the way for me today so I had room to manoeuvre HLOL...won all three games...having said that...he was probably tired as he'd only had less than four hours sleep so I shouldn't really be boasting about my prowess
Lovely day as well now...had a very pleasant walk round for the paper and am now about to go and get my lunch...the noises from my stomach suggest I'm in need of food quickly
So, my lovely friends, have a good day, and big hugs to you all... -
Another attempt
@ 23.01.2008 – 23:41:09
Hi to one and all...I'm getting myself ready for bed soon, and tonight, I'm going to try something completely different...I need a full night's sleep again...so it's a cup of tea plus two Hedex as I loathe sleeping pills and actually haven't got any so Hedex will have to do and a read of my book then lights out and I'll let you know what happens tomorrow morning..HLOL...
So, goodnight, my friends, have a restful night, sweet dreams, and big hugs to you all... -
Missed
@ 23.01.2008 – 17:12:01
Hi to one and all...have had a restful day...went for the paper, had a coffee, did the crossword then played three games of bowls on the Wii...discovered I couldn't hit a barn door today
Lost two games to hubby, a reversal of yesterday...hmmm...have no idea why your eye and hand refuse to co-ordinate one day then the next you hit several strikes in each game...oh, well...then had lunch. Hubby went off to bed before he has to get up at 5.30 to go to work, while I did some more of my story after which I had a practice on the keyboard, and now I'm waiting before I have to wake him up and cook his dinner before he leaves at 6.15, and listening to the Jazz on my lovely new radio...it's really nice to have it up in the main bedroom where my computer is...before it arrived, we could get the prog on the TV in the living room one floor down, and in the kitchen on the now second DABS radio we bought in Lidl's several months ago and realised how good it was, but I had to wait until xmas to get my own
Trying not to think about Friday and hubby's check up with the work's doc, because, would you believe, his office he uses for check up, along with all the basement and ground floor offices in the PO building, were flooded again in the big storm a couple of days ago, and nobody has the key to the doc's office to dry it out!!! Nor, can the men go and have a power nap in their breaks at night now because there's no where for them to sit down...Isn't life a pain in the arse sometimes..
So, lovely friends, I hope you have a good evening, and have had a good day so far, big hugs to one and all... -
Dreary again
@ 23.01.2008 – 09:50:40
Hi to one and all...woke up this morning to another day of grey skies and rain...lovely! Had to get up seven times in the night so cranberry juice isn't working yet
Will take some more today then if it hasn't improved by tonight, won't bother to go to bed at all, I'll put a pillow in the loo and rest on that instead...
But, thought I'd give you all a laugh...this arrived for me last night from Trevor, and I thought it was hilarious...printed it out for hubby so he could read it at six when he came in, and also agrees it's hilarious...will be going round PO sorting office tonight...Hope Trev doesn't mind me sharing this with you all but we need a good laugh...so here it is...

Oh, yippee
@ 22.01.2008 – 09:54:49
Hi to one and all...woke up to brilliant sunshine, thank goodness, as I've got over a mile walk to the docs this morning. Had a bugger of a night...five times or maybe six times for a loo call. Thought at one point it wasn't worth even going back to bed but did sleep in between and then had to get up early because doc's appointment is 10.40 so must leave here by 10.10 to walk the mile and a half there...the buses don't fit in as usual

Hubby's coming with me as he needs to get a new blood test form, which the doc gave him on his last visit and now has lost
Needs a check up for his thyroid problem. Might try and fit it in for when I have my ultra scan in two or three weeks. Hmmm...ageing is a real bore...
So, lovely friends, hope you all have a very good day, hope the sun is also shining for, at least, some of you, and for those in flooded areas, really hope you're staying dry, and big hugs to everybody.... -

Hi to one and all...to all 'Lost' fans out there, it's returning on the 3rd February...hmmm...now isn't that something to look forward to...HLOL...The day before I said to hubby I wondered when it was coming back and today there was an ad on TV for it, so the powers that be must have heard me...he has no interest in it whatsoever but I enjoy it...City of Vice was very good tonight and very explicit as well...no holes barred with this series...
All about the gay scene in 16th century London...and the murder of a gay priest...see nothing changes...
So, dear friends, on this night of nothing on the telly so blogging and killing time until bed time, I hope you have a restful night, sweet dreams and big hugs to one and all... -

Am seriously nervous now about getting MRSA or whatever it is in hospitals nowadays...hmmm...off to see City of Vice now...
Have a good evening, everybody, and big hugs... -

Another bad night
@ 20.01.2008 – 10:33:11
Hi to one and all...I'm still waiting to have a full night's sleep since my gut started playing up...last night I must have had to get up six times at least - lost count - at some point. Had a cup of tea at 3.30 and listened to the World services for a short while but was still awake at 4.30 but managed to fall asleep after that until 7.40, another visit to the darned loo, and asleep again until 9.20 when hubby brought me a cup of tea. My stomach was rolling around like an earthquake...
Ah, well, hopefully, it will be sorted soon...
Now, I've had a lovely soak in a bubble bath, hubby's going to giving me a coconut oil massage and then we're going shopping. It's grey and miserable again and the wind howled all night but has dropped now thank goodness. Also, haven't heard a dicky bird from my bro yet, which is also not unusual. He could have dropped me an email at least...
So, my lovely friends, have a good rest of the weekend, I hope somebody here has some sun because I haven't seen any for three days in a row now and not doing my mood any good at all...but will make a huge effort not to be a gloomy pain in the butt...great big hugs to you all... -

Hi to one and all...not a happy bunny, all day I've been okay and now that damned stomach ache as come back enough to need another painkiller...think the phone call did it...damn...OW OW OW, it bloody well hurts...going to get a cup of tea and a pill...speak to you later...big hugs for now....
-
Oh damn not again
@ 18.01.2008 – 13:06:04
Hi to one and all...had another up and down night...have been like it since my last attack, and woke up late to discover the same pain was there. Hubby made me a cup of tea and brought me one of the strongest painkillers we have which could knock an elephant out and I took it and, thank goodness, it seems to have cured it straight away. I really don't want another one of those horrible attacks...I'm not wholly sure whether it's internal migraine...you can get migraine in the stomach. Odd though as I haven't suffered from it for many years now, but then I hadn't given up smoking then...
I did use cigs to relax and always have, now I don't have any means of doing so other than my own will power, and it has been a rather stressful start to the year...some self-imposed...other imposed from outside...hmmm...I might discuss with the doc next Tuesday whether I should try using one of the substitutes for cigs to calm me down every now and then...I'm very nervous about going back to it again in any form, but I'm certainly not spending the rest of my darned life messing up my body in some other way and much more painfully than an annoying cough every now and then....
So, my friends, not much else has happened. Managed to walk round for a paper too so it really did work well, and my long awaited replacement for my dodgy 300 DVD turned up, so nothing else expected in the post for me now, and have stopped buying now
Have a good day and big hugs to you all...

Hi to one and all...saw PrettyIntelligentPrincess's word cloud and with her help, I've tried one of my own and here it is...strange concept but interesting to see...
Will try to do one next month as well to see how much it changes. Annoying that some of the words are so small as to be illegible, and can't enlarge the image either without blurring it.
Big hugs and have a good afternoon.
