Hi to everybody...went shopping this morning in what looked like a beautiful day...it was absolutely perishing outside...the bus was half an hour late and I was frozen by the time I got on it...decided to have a sandwich in Poole and a coffee because running so late with the wait at the bloody bus stop and went to a cafe that we knew was good...it has changed hands...I had a revolting bap full of god only knows what called chinese chicken...I think the fucking chicken flew from China because it was all perfect damned cubes, and I've never seen a chicken that's cubed...could only eat half otherwise I would have thrown up...coffee was okay and for the honour of buying that crap it cost us £9.30!! I nearly had bloody chickens when I heard the price...anyway, rushed round and caught the bus and came home and discovered I'd forgotten one of the main things I went in for and that was my mascara, because there's absolutely no where around here you can buy any make up and with the damn bus being late I forgot to check my list and have arrived home without it and am out nearly...damn, damn, damn....
Decided this afternoon to put something on the National as I ignored something once which was associated with me and the darned horse romped home first...so thought okay I'll take a risk and not let this pass...one and a half hours later and dozens of damned attempts to get various bookies to accept our switch card and total failure...they do the Verisign thing and it just won't accept either me or my hubby and we are absolutely bloody furious...so we go by phone and the same damn thing happens...finally my hubby has to prove who he is via birth date and name...and would you believe it...verisign apparently goes via the electoral list and there's nobody on it with my hubby's name or mine for that matter, even though we've filled our form in regularly every time they send it to us...only a misspelling of my hubby's name was found and the bet was finally put on...this is three different web sites selling things that use verisign and I've not been able to make a single purchase on any of them...I am so bloody MAD...it's all very well protecting us from fraud, but when it actually completely blocks us from making a purchase at all...how the hell does that protect us???
Now, I need to calm down again...I've come to the conclusion that this country is a total bloody shambles and nearing rapidly a third world status...after that disgusting bap and its filling which resembled somebody's dinner after too much booze...I want to go somewhere else to live and quickly...
Sorry for this rant, but this was supposed to be a restful day and it has been anything but...in fact it has been a frigging fraught one and now I have to calm down before I hurt my damned stomach again...big hugs to one and all and hope you're having a better day than we are....

I know, but tried Munzly's remedy of almonds and crystalline ginger and it seems to have worked...HLOL...I've got milk, honey and vanilla from Jack and that's gorgeous on our cereals every morning now, and now trying this cure for my stomach so all in all am trying things I would never have thought of in a million years...Had a lovely Chinese takeaway tonight, and had a slight twinge after it and took the ginger and almonds and it's okay now...LOL...big hugs....

Hubby gets annoyed with me because he says if you're not willing to lose your money don't bet...I think he thinks I'm an idiot or something...as if I don't know that...I asked him whether you have to pay more to do each way and he said you have to treble your bet?? And I said I'm not doing that...it would make £60...anyway, it turned out he was completely wrong...and so I didn't do it each way but to win in the end because it was so darned hard to get them to even take our bet in the first place...I don't know why I think a man should know about making a bet, but my man doesn't that's for sure...LOL...big hugs...

Well , sensible him , and yes each-way is two bets - one win -and one place - at a quarter or a fifth or a sixth of the odds .
If you think that a particular horse could well win and is almost certain to be placed then 5/1 to 6/1 seems a fairly safe bet , as you'll get all or most of your money back , or make a small profit if it's only placed .
And if the odds are far higher than that you could make a quite nice profit just out of it being placed .
But far better to be married to a gambling virgin than to a compulsive gambler !

I think a lot of people backed Simon because it's their name or that of someone close to them . . . I thought it might have run into a place though it was'nt my choice , which was'nt placed either , hope you're having a better day today .

HLOL...I expect they did...and I bet they were delighted to see the darned jockey end up on his butt...at least I don't think he was hurt...it's just a real irony that the place I was most unhappy in, Amberley, romped home as an outsider either last year or the year before and I didn't put anything on it...and the person apart from my hubby who I love most in the world, didn't come anywhere?? LOL...hmmm...and yes, today so far is a lot better thanks, Martin...
Big hugs...XX

Gosh Jen, you have had a topsy turvy day. I hate eating crap food and dislike paying exorbitant prices for the crap I just ate.

I just wish people would stop selling their cafes to people who have no idea what decent food is...there was a really nice cafe in the middle of Poole High Street which we used to go into and have a coffee and sometimes lunch, then, without our realising it, it too changed hands and we had a revolting lunch in there...and couldn't understand why the place stank of burnt grease...so disappointing, and I'm ashamed that visitors come and go into such places and think that's what's normal in Poole, when it's darned people trying to give the customer crap and overcharge them at the same time...big hugs...
