  • Oh, extremely late today

Hi to everybody...really, really late today...had a good night and woke up to sunshine and was out shopping by 10.40...got a late bus straightaway and we were back home by 12.40....I spent the entire rest of the damned day trying to get my books on my publishing web site to be the right size and I still don't know whether I've succeeded...It's been one heck of a pain in the neck...should be relatively easy...you put your size of your book into page settings and then upload it and they create a PDF for you...so far so good...you read the uploaded PDF and it looks fine...the pages are all fine...your first page falls on an odd number which is on the right side of your book and then you click for continue and then the book appears on the site and all the damned numbering has changed and now your first page will appear on the left side according to it because now on an even number...I did get help and was told to change my doc size, which I did and did again, and did again and now I have ten prints...in other words I've tried to get this right ten times...if it's not right this time, I'm giving up...it's just too much of a pain in the arse...you do have to buy a copy of each one to see if it's okay, and so I'm now spending far more than I'm making...HLOL...which is really bloody typical...so no more of this moan...the site really is pretty good, it's just so hard to get the sizes right and the pages right on it...
So, my lovely friends, that's it for tonight...saw my tape of Boston Legal just now and it was brilliant...and Doctor Who which is a two parter!! Oh, whatever's happened to Donna? And I'm about to see the final episode of Pushing Daisies at ten so do have something to take my mind of my hugely irritating day...hope you've all had a better one than me and have had some lovely sunshine...great big hugs to you all in the meantime...

  • Dull but warm

Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night to clouds but no rain yet and it's warm...decided to let hubby have a lie in as he's on his overtime now and is also on antibiotics for his chest...went round for the paper on my own and now he's lying in bed reading his Jazz Journal which I picked up for him as well, and contemplating rising...LOL...
No plans for today and given up on the three game box set I bought as it freezes and doesn't look good because works on such a low resolution and I hate point and click games...now looking for one that does both first and third person game play...did find one called Beyond Atlantis, but it's most annoying...found a combo set of first and second game for only $7.99 including postage and they won't send it outside the USA...to buy it here will cost me nearly £17, which I think is a darn cheek so didn't...
That's it for now...hope you have some sun and, if not, that you'll have a good day...great big hugs to one and all...

  • Oh, just for a change

Hi to everybody...guess what...it's pouring with rain now...glad I got out into the garden this morning after doing the shopping...have tidied it all up and now it's getting another good soaking...actually it was still very wet indeed underneath the bushes I was trying to trim so I could walk up the garden paths...with all the rain the bushes had grown profusely to the point of covering up the paths...tomorrow is more rain and down to 11 degrees! That's damned cold for nearly June...Saturday is apparently warmer with mixed rain and sun...but Sunday is supposed to be good...hmmm...I'll believe that when I see it...
Tonight is TV night after nothing at all last night...Heroes, which I'm taping, because finale of Bones and somebody dies in it...will say no more...Men in Trees is back and love that...very good acting, very funny and very moving...then Without a Trace is back followed by Boston Legal...isn't it bloody typical...barely anything on all week and Thursday's jam packed with all the series I like...Cold Case is on as well but clashes with Without a Trace so seeing that tomorrow on Sky two...hmmm...I really will have square eyes when I've finished viewing tonight...HLOL...
That's it, my lovely friends, hope you've had a good day, will have a restful night and sweet dreams because I won't be back again this evening...:) so great big hugs to one and all for now...

  • Just one thing

Hi to everybody...good night, no stomach ache today and woke up to....wait for it...SUNSHINE!!!
Blue skies with wispy clouds are here again...and NO WIND...yippee....
Won't say anymore because it's bound to damned well change and piddle down on us when we go shopping in an hour...:)
Have a lovely day, and great big hugs to one and all....

  • Got my appointment

Hi to everybody...quick update...I now have my appointment for the gastroscopy...Friday, 6th June at 2.15...that's pretty good...not a long wait at all...need to stop taking my medication as from today...I was told seven days off it was fine...and besides I've only been on it a week so it's certainly hasn't had time to work properly yet...can at least take my Gavilast...thank goodness...don't fancy rolling around in agony with nothing to take...LOL...let's hope they don't find anything too serious but something so that I'll have an explanation for this darned problem I've had since the end of January...
Great big hugs to one and all...

  • Horrible again

Hi to everybody...good night, but woke up to a bad stomach again...didn't take a Gavilast before I went to bed after the night before waking up with no discomfort...that'll teach me...LOL...over confidant...
Raining heavily then stopped and dry now but so damned dreary...grey, grey, grey...so boring...hubby's back to work tonight so break over...his chest hasn't got a serious infection..just a mild one so that's good news...on his antibiotics now but I've decided to wait before starting mine, mostly because it says don't take with indigestion remedies which is what my regular medication is??? Not sure how to get four antibiotics in and take my pill for my stomach...hmmm....oh, well...my wheeze comes and goes..
Hubby had a fun trip to the docs...got there and had his check up then came out and went to the chemist for the prescriptions...didn't notice the chemist had given the wrong sort to me...I need capsules because I'm allergic to the coating on the tablets...then got all the way down the road to the bus stop and realised he'd left his glasses in the doc's room...walks all the way back only to be told by Mrs Jobsworth behind the desk that he'll have to wait until the other patient has finished with the doc...another twenty minutes he has to sit before he can get them! Gets home and is so flustered and angry both with the disastrous morning and because he has now checked my medicines and hit the ceiling...I phoned up chemist and told them what happened to him and they said not to worry they'd deliver the replacements and collect the wrong ones from me in the afternoon, which they did...so at least he didn't have to walk the two miles back to the docs and home again...the buses are so erratic that's it's impossible to catch one to the surgery in time for any appointment...
So, that's my news for today...so exciting isn't it...:-/ Now, I've checked out my three new games and am disappointed to discover there's no avatar in these and they look exceedingly dated now because made for Win95/98 and have been updated to play in WinXP but only in a low resolution still...hate games where there's only a finger pointing in the direction you want to go, and I haven't got the games in the right order either as they're an ongoing story...the one I played was the latest and much better graphics all round...hmmm...will have to decide whether I'm going to bother with them...that's it for now...hope you're having better weather than we are...I give up on Spring, just hoping Summer doesn't let us down again...have a good day and great big hugs to one and all....

  • Cluster bombs

Hi to everybody...here's something that might be of interest to some if not all of you...
I've just sent a message to government leaders urging a strong ban on cluster bombs. I hope you'll join me. Here's the link:

    http://www.avaaz.org/en/ban_cluster_munitions/99.php?CLICK_TF_TRACK

It's a message to Gordon Brown to ban cluster bombs which do so much long term damage with unexploded ones going off up to years later and blowing off limbs or killing innocent victims.

    Great big hugs...

  • Grey and chilly

Hi to everybody...same old same old...grey and chilly again today but dry...had a good night...finished my game just now...now I've got the set of three to tackle...LOL...I'll be damned ancient by the time I finish those...hmmm...chest a little less wheezy this morning, but hubby's got his appointment for the docs for his and is walking round there now...he'll pick me up an antibiotic too in case it does get worse again...sure there's something in the air...maybe pollen but it's odd...both of us seem to be affected more by the rainy days in Spring than dry ones...pollen usually gets washed away in rain but seems not to be the case here...
Nothing exciting to tell you...with the weather being so dire, no chance of going somewhere nice...glad in a way I've got my games to play otherwise I'd be fretting at having to stay in so often...been a rotten Spring...nearly June and we've had to put the heating on in the evening a couple of times...clicked on at 12 degrees...don't want to think of the bills if we have to keep heating the house during the supposedly warm months...
Funny thing is...my wheeze gets worse when I sit at the computer?? Must dust around here...LOL...that's it for now...hope you have a good day and great big hugs to one and all....

  • Bank Holiday

Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night...and discovered it was pouring with rain and it's cold! So much for going down to the sea today...have stayed in while hubby went for the paper, and it appears he's got a chest infection so will have to go to see the doc for antibiotics tomorrow...bummer! I've been wheezy too, and not sure whether we've picked up a bad cough from somebody - lots of people coughing on buses and in the shops - or we're allergic to an aerosol perfumed odour remover spray we've been using to remove the smell of my cigs...:-/ I've cut down to three a day and won't use the spray again, but neither would have given my hubby a chest infection...rotten weather doesn't help...
Hmmm...so much for the Bank Holiday...a complete washout...as per usual I guess...doing little or nothing today but playing games and eating and relaxing...hope you've got some better weather, and are having a good break inside if not outside...great big hugs to one and all....

  • Real quickie :)

Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night to dreary weather and got up, did our usual Sunday morning pleasant things like giving hubby his massage then went round for the paper...found the wind a bit cool but it wasn't raining...there was blue sky trying to come through and over the day it did...now it's a gorgeous hot day so has come good for the Bank Holiday weekend...hope tomorrow will be the same...hope to get down to the sea...
Nothing to tell you really...hubby's been busy doing most of his jobs I can't do today so he has the rest of the weekend for us and I've been playing my game...makes me feel very lazy but he doesn't complain as I can't do certain things with my back and that's the way it is...
Hope you all have a lovely weekend...and great big hugs to one and all in the meantime...

  • It's hot!

Hi to everybody...had a very good night's sleep and woke up to sunny skies with light clouds, which was a pleasant surprise considering the forecast was rain here...got up and went shopping...caught the very late bus after only a two or three minute wait! Well pleased with that...it was nearly half an hour late! Wonderful...great bus service we have here...Discovered when we got out that the strong wind was actually a warm one and we were wearing far too much...still in winter gear after being caught out earlier in the week when it was really cold...didn't have time to go back and change so walked around feeling very hot...:)) So much for don't cast a clout till May is out...certainly should have today.
Got round the shops quickly, thank goodness, as Poole was packed...got the bus back via the long route but we were home by one and after a coffee and a ciggie, we had lunch.
Now, I'm trying to decide whether to play my game again or to do something else...will let you know how that goes later...:)
Hope you all have a good Bank Holiday weekend and that the weather is kind to you...great big hugs to one and all for now....

  • Happy Birthday, Jack

    jacks

Great big hugs and loads of love...XXXX

  • Better day today

Hi to everybody...had a good night, slept right through from 1.15 to 9.30 with only one very brief interruption...did have a couple of biscuits at ten and took a Gavilast at midnight...so that must have helped because I didn't have a stomach ache this morning...the weather is fine and quite warm now...had a very pleasant walk round for the paper and I was about to write something and it has vanished from my brain...damn ageing...HLOL...hmmm..what the hell was it? Nothing vital obviously...oh, yes, I've lost six pounds nearly in the last fortnight by keeping off all sweets, biscuits and cakes and having salads for dinner or light dinners...I'm well pleased...I'm eight stone eight now so need to lose about another three pounds then I'll be back to what I was last year when I gave up smoking...and I'll be able to get back into all my clothes...HLOL...was quite a shock to discover nothing did up anymore...and cannot wear anything tight because it feels absolutely weird like a steel band not soft clothes...said this before so won't repeat myself again...old people tend to do that a lot..:)) Okay, no rude remarks...:)
Have started playing the expansion of Myst URU now and am not enjoying it as much as the main game...you have to keep jumping in and out of places until your damned head is spinning, and for somebody with absolutely no sense of bloody direction, I walk around most of the time in circles getting nowhere fast and certainly not finding what I'm looking for...namely blasted green markers...only need five, got two and can I find the other three...can I hell...found most of the fifteen red ones you find after the green but I'm stuck now and getting a bit bored, but will persist...HLOL...in my nature not to give up...
So my lovely friends, I hope you're having some sun, that you're feeling better if you've down or ill, and will have a good day....great big hugs to one and all in the meantime...

  • Hubby's a winner

Hi to everybody...today we were very very rich for about half a minute....Dell had selected us as a winner of their email lottery and my hubby's got selected to win one million pounds...the pot was five but the division is between five lucky winners...all he had to do was give a whole load of details...including his annual income and had to answer within 21 days....
Hubby's say bollocks this is a scam and rings up Dell who confirms that it is indeed nothing to do with them and they had received other calls about just such an email...
Why on earth do some people enjoy wasting other people's time?? I can't see, even if we answered the questions, which weren't exactly security details...didn't ask for card numbers or bank account records, supplied a code for a dell computer, pin number for dell and another code for activating lottery and that was it, oh, yes and name, age and address...what on earth could they learn from that?
Oh, well, back to being in our usual state of financial affairs...not broke, but definitely not millionaires now...HLOL...that'll be the day when somebody really gets something for absolutely nothing...
Have a good evening...lots on TV tonight...Bones, Cold Case, Boston Legal and taping Heroes, and Hollow Man 2 with Christian Slater on Five US plus 1 hr...at 12.30...it's just as a spare film to watch as very little on at the weekend as usual...
Nothing exciting happening...no answer from the software company yet...great big hugs to one and all for now...

  • Oh bummer!

Hi to everybody...had a weird half sleep half awake night and woke up to get a really bad stomach ache again after having my breakfast. It was made worse when I went to check our bank statement and found that we had been billed for an MSOffice from Softwaredealsdirect after I cancelled the order..only to receive an email back saying they had no record of the order so I presumed it hadn't gone through...my bloody mistake...they've now sent me an email confirming my payment and the article is now being sent to me!! Damn...I knew as soon as I put the order through something wasn't right...I got conned by the cheap price...and now I doubt very much whether I'll get my money back...the MSOffice might be legit, but I don't darned well need it anymore...hmmm....keep away from that company...they're dodgy...
Oh, dear...I've taken a painkiller and my stomach has settled now but took over an hour...must get this sorted...it's getting stupid...
It started off dull today but now it's nice...I was going to Lidls with hubby but my stomach was still hurting too much and he went alone and has just got back...so, my lovely friends, I hope you have a better day than I'm having at the moment, and great big hugs to one and all...

  • Given up

Hi to everybody...well, my film turned out to be 'Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil'...forgot the 'Midnight' bit...:) and I'd already seen it...it's long...goes from 10 to 12.45...so decided to stop at eleven as I wasn't going to sit up that long, and it's shopping day tomorrow so must be up fairly early because hubby's on his overtime shift Thursday and Friday, so must be asleep by 2.15 to 30 otherwise he'll be completely whacked by the time he gets home at 6.30....
So, now I'm playing Solitaire and just relaxing before I go to bed at midnight and read for half an hour...hope you all had a good evening, will have a restful night and sweet dreams...and great big hugs to one and all for tonight....

  • oooh, finished...I think

Hi to everybody...I spent the entire day trying to get my docs into PDF's and this morning decided to download Open Office because it creates PDF's and it did!! So easily, while my MS Word stubbornly refused to do anything like that...now have uploaded my ready prepared PDF's of my two books to Lulu, the online publishers...and hopefully, anybody attempting to buy a copy will get a proper paperback and not the tome they would have received before...mind you, don't know whether I got a discount because I bought a copy each but they were both only a fiver while the price on the site said nine or ten pounds??? Still just fumble along like a complete dumbo...it says all sorts of things about how to work out your price etc and revenue and so I try to get it right and then pay only half of what's on the site...mind you, I didn't mind...HLOL...
Going to see a John Cusack film tonight called The Garden of Good and Evil...have no idea what it's like but like him a lot...usually his films are very watchable...so apart from fiddling with my MSOffice and Open Office, which I'm well pleased I downloaded especially as it's free :D
Now, I'm off for a ciggy because my brain is a bit mangled but I've not lost my temper all day so doing well...
Have a good evening, hope you're feeling better if you've been ill, and great big hugs to one and all....

  • Lovely day at last

Hi to everybody...slept right through until 9.30 today so my shoulder didn't wake me and now I'm back on my medication for my stomach that worked as well...woke up to a gorgeous clear blue sky...a slight chill in the air but still lovely. Decided to go up the garden to check the blue tit nest because we knew we had to remove it, and I found one of the parents dead only about a yard from the nest on the ground...I don't know how I missed seeing the poor little thing, and it didn't look as if a cat had got it, just lying there unharmed...I can only presume it either died of exhaustion or it ate something that had been sprayed with insect killer...just heartbreaking...all the nest and the little bird has now been removed and we won't put another one up...just too sad to watch such a successful start and such a tragic end...We went round for the paper after that, and tomorrow we must go shopping in Lidl's because need to stock up again on a few things...
Today, I'm going to make another attempt to get my script into some sort of readiness for publication...have downloaded Open Office to see if that will convert my docs to PDF format...Apart from that, I think I'll check out the new section of my game later, but may take a break having played the main game for a month now...LOL...
That's it for now, my lovely friends, I hope that you have a good day, and for those not feeling on top of the world, I hope you'll feel better soon....in the meantime, great big hugs to one and all...

  • Oh, at last!

Hi to everybody...have had seriously bad probs here with my blogs for the last two days...been all but cut off...could't post and couldn't seem to get anything much to work properly...touch wood and everything else, it's working now...
Had a seriously bad night last night...stomach ache at five woke me and I had to have a gaviscon twelve hour tab and a paracetomol...woke up with another one and had to take a codomol...anyway, went to the docs this morning and he's put me back on my pills and is booking me in for a check on my stomach to see what's going on down there...gastroscopy..I think it's called...four to six week wait, so not too bad...and I've had my cortisone jab in my shoulder and am hoping that's going to be sorted...
Have actually completed my entire game this afternoon!! HLOL...am I a happy bunny...only five more to go now...:)
I've really missed being able to go on line and check out my friend's posts and make a comment but I had to go through the rigamarole of a guest every time so haven't done many at all, and what with my own being inaccessible, I got really fed up...all tearful this morning, but fine now...
Hope you're having a good day, ...and hope the sun is shining on you as it is us at the moment...forget to say hubby's back to work tonight so hols over... great big hugs to one and all for now.

  • Really, really late!

Hi to everybody...huh, better late than never...haven't been able to do a post because there was a big glitch...blog was reduced to basic...and couldn't write anything either...luvverly...but back again now, thank goodness...
Cold day today so stayed in and checked out my Lulu site where I have my two books and discovered...shock...horror...that they were not what I expected at all...my sis-in-law asked to get a copy of one for her so I bought both because thought I should check it out...my Office Word is so old that it can't be adapted for PDF format and that's a real big problem on these publishing sites...they do it for you but if your format isn't compatible, they just print it out as a large book...now I'm having to update my Office rapido if I want to get my books into any semblance of order and ready for publishing properly...
I spent most of the day struggling to try to get my darned old Office to do what I wanted and did succeed more or less in the end, but can't get my Acrobat PDF creator to recognize the format...hmmm...never mind...will sort it out when my new Office arrives...
Also decided to try to complete the last Age of my game and I did it...LOL...still a little bit more to do to end it, but nearly there...and the rest of the new set of Myst games arrived this morning...that's pretty good timing...mind you...I've just remembered, I've got two more additional parts to play on URU so will still be boring you all with my screams of frustration...:)
That's it for now...great big beautiful full moon tonight...thought I'd take a pic and all I got was a round spot in the sky and none of the delicate clouds around it...and then decided to try through the glass and got a weird pic...turned out the glass had simply reflected back to me my hands holding the camera in a blurred image...HLOL...not at all what I wanted...so that's definitely it for now...approaching bed time in an hour or so...no stomach aches this morning or all day so that's good news...off to see the doc tomorrow morning and get my arm sorted...hope you all had a good day...one very sad piece of news...our little blue tits seem to have abandoned their chicks and we can see about six little featherless chicks cheeping away with open mouths still and clearly ravenous and we can't do a thing about it..the RSPB says even if they rescued them, at that age, they die...it's heartbreaking to hear them...doubt if we will tomorrow...they haven't been fed now for over twenty four hours...one of the parents could have been got by a cat or they can't find enough food...they are a bit late nesting...anyway....hope you all have a restful night, sweet dreams and great big hugs to one and all...

  • I did it (2)!!

Hi to everybody...just before I go to bed a happy bunny...I did the bit of the game at last that's been driving me nuts...so won't dream about it tonight...HLOL...
Have a restful night, my lovely friends, and sweet dreams again....great big hugs...

  • Tin Man

Hi to everybody...did something tonight I never thought I do...I put off Lost for another series...Tin Man...it's so good and I can highly recommend it if it's shown again, which I'm sure it will be...last one next week...only three but they each last 1 hour 45 mins so you get a good chunk of the adventure each episode...I'll watch Lost tomorrow night on Sky2...something to look forward too...LOL...
That's it for now...hope you all have a restful night, sweet dreams and great big hugs to one and all...

  • Damn it!!

Hi to everybody...I've just given up on my damn game...I've tried to do something in it for two days now and it's possible because other people have done, but I can't...it's so bloody frustrating!! I can understand making obstacles difficult at the end of the game but this one is just damned stupidly hard...I want to throw it across the room, but it's in the machine so I can't...HLOL...hmmm....deep sighs...this is supposed to be fun! I've checked walkthroughs and nobody has come up with a better way of doing it other than all the ways I've tried and none of them work...I've got huge amounts of perseverence but not much patience...:-/ You definitely need both for this game...
So, from one peed off player of URU...have a good afternoon and hope the sun is still shining on some of you at least...great big hugs to one and all...

  • Hmmm...not so good

Hi to everybody...woke up to the sun trying to shine through some still fairly thick clouds...slept well but woke up with a bad stomach again...damn...thought I was on the mend, but it's nearly a week now since I finished my course of medication and it's back again...the doc said I might have to take them permanently...that I wasn't expecting or looking forward to...am also being really careful what I eat, but doesn't seem to make a difference...went round for the paper and found the wind was very chilly but it was at least much more pleasant than it has been recently...not going to last unfortunately...rain forecast for all of next week...have just taken a painkiller and am sitting here groaning...:-/ It seems I can't leave myself without food for so long between meals...I never eat anymore in the evening and think I've got to go back to it for the time being...I've lost two pounds doing that and having light evening meals of salad and was really pleased...deep sighs...oh, well, seeing doc on Tuesday for my shoulder and will tell him my stomach's bad again as well...getting old is an ace bore!!
Now, I'm going to sit and play my game to try to take my mind off my dodgy stomach and scream at that instead...LOL...hope you have a good rest of the weekend, and have some sun, great big hugs to one and all in the meantime....

  • The film

Hi to everybody...got into the Aldomovar film 'Live Flesh' and within a few minutes realised we had seen it before but so long ago we'd both forgotten the story...watched again, and it was very good. I think we've seen all of Aldomovar's films that have been shown over here now. I can highly recommend him to anybody who enjoys brilliantly acted and beautifully directed Spanish films...It actually turned out to be taken from a Ruth Rendell novel! That did come as a surprise...had completely missed that before...LOL...Usually his films are more quirky and the characters more complex, but this was still an excellent study of jealousy, intrigue and passion...
So, that's it for tonight...I'm recording a film called 'Nemesis' now...have absolutely no idea whether it's going to be worth watching, but it's a sci-fi film set in 2027 and an 18 so obviously has blood and guts in it...about a policemen chasing cyborgs...hmmm...not sure it's big budget but we'll see...:)
Hope you've had a good evening...will have a good weekend, and have a restful night, sweet dreams and great big hugs to one and all...

  • Caught up

Hi to everybody...just caught up with progs I taped...Heroes and Raines....Heroes was very good again...don't know why the writers weren't happy with this series...think it's fine....but no Hiro this week and I always miss seeing something about Hiro...Raines has Jeff Goldblum as a policeman who sees ghosts...had prospects but it was boring so won't bother with the next six episodes...then I saw Doctor Who at seven...this is an excellent series...Love Katherine Tate as his companion...definitely one of the best...each episode is so different...you never know what's coming next...apart from the end of each one of course giving you a short clip...:)
So, in about half an hour when my eyes have gone from oblong to round again...can't say square because our screen is definitely oblong...LOL...we're going to watch Pedro Aldomovar's 'Live Flesh' taped from last night and I certainly haven't seen it so really looking forward to that...great director and gets great performances usually from his cast...will let you know how that goes either later tonight or tomorrow...:)
That's it, my lovely friends, hope you're having a good evening and great big hugs to you all in the meantime...
