Hi to everybody....well, we saw the film 'Iron Man', and the effects were very good and Robert Downey Jnr was very good in it, but the story was a bit of a cliche with the very bad baddie played by Jeff Bridges who usually plays goodies...
One thing we discovered was that there's some more good movies coming this summer including The Incredible Hulk, The Dragonfly Man, Hellboy 2, the latest Indiana Jones film and a couple of others that might be promising....so it looks like we'll be going to the cinema a fair bit this year after a dearth last year...LOL...
It's a day of viewing...just seen the second part of the remake of the Andromeda Strain and found it not half as good as the original...completely different story and full of very bad baddies again in the White House and an ignorant President...oh, something new!!
Could have made one movie instead of two I think... Battlestar Galactica is on at nine following at 10.30 by the Spanish thriller on BBC4...I'll definitely have completely square eyes after all that...HLOL...but it's just one of those days when I feel like watching stuff, and if it's on, I'll see it all....
That's it, my lovely friends, it's been a great day so far...and I hope yours has been as well...at least for those not suffering from bugs or blues...hope you feel better too soon....great big hugs to one and all for now...

I've no idea, but every film seems to have a group within the security services who are totally villainous...makes you wonder whether the makers are trying to tell us something...of course that we didn't know already...HLOL...there are so many dead bodies in these films that, if true, the USA would be littered with corpses...just like Dalziel and Pascoe stories always are...
Always make me laugh whenever I watch one when there's nothing else worth watching...at least three to four bodies in every one...also...there's a new enemy in most modern films...the Arabs instead of the Russians now...in the Iron Man it was an Afghani group of fighters...I've noticed the change in all the USA series...Russia is out and the Arabs are in...LOL...great big hugs...-

I think you hit the nail on the head there. I think we know that these folk are bloomin villians! Perhaps they are made bad in movies in order to desensitise us from reality - where they are bad here as well, but we are so used to seeing it on the screen that we don't really notice.
I often think that about some of the books I read. Some of the heroes have people die in every book, often several people. Makes one wonder why the police don't investigate //them//!-

It's to make us always see the Arab as bad and that's bad! We seem to have a desire to have our heroes kill people or for people to die around them and then the helpless police fumble around while the private detective comes along and solves it for them...might suggest we don't trust our police to find criminals...it's up to the resourceful individual and often outsider to do the job properly...HLOL...hmmm....funny old life...great big hugs...

Why do they remake films and then make them different? Why don't they show a little more imagination and adapt them into newly titled films. They just detract from the original films

I don't know...the Andromeda Strain in particular was an excellent sci-fi film in its time...and they even screwed up Metropolis, one of the best early sci-fi films ever made...they put terrible music behind it and coloured it and absolutely ruined it...I do have a copy of the original and will never watch a remake ever...great big hugs...

I'm gonna stick to the originals I think. Heard good news from Sweet Lady Jane that the new Chronicles of Narnia film, Prince Caspian, is due out in the US soon so will be out over here not long after. I love all those CS Lewis books

I remember reading the whole series to my boys. They loved it. Probably why it means so much

Ah, sentimental value...our son read Dune and its sequels...brilliant stories...I can't remember what I read to mine...I think I told them stories out of my head if I recall correctly...
Great big hugs...-

I've not read them. I quite miss reading to them. These days they are too old to have the old man read to them!

I wonder why they always seem to portray the president as a complete gloop? And govt workers are all evil baddies, as you say.
