Hi to everybody...I've just listened to the news and there's a call for interest rates to be reduced by as much as one and a half per cent!! That will take savers rates down to around two per cent and less and, for all those pensioners, relying on the interest payments on their savings to help them meet the increased costs of almost everything, it will be devastating...Semafu informed us yesterday in my Armchair Revolutionary group that the bonuses - not including their salaries - of those in charge of the Banks walked away with 31 billion pounds in the last four years...this is something that should really be looked into by the government because nobody should be allowed to milk profits like this anywhere...see 'Bonus Reality Check' in my group...
This is damn gloomy news for savers everywhere....Great big hugs to one and all...

Bosses of banks have been taking huge bonuses for years, and if the government tries to do anything about it, the big banks will just relocate their headquarters to other countries where the government won't dictate their bonuses to them. Them moving would have an impact on the British economy, so it won't happen!

Hmmm....I do know this is given as the reason for this daylight robbery but they really are taking the public here who must use them for a ride of gargantuan proportions...it wasn't until Thatcher came in I believe when this robbery started in the form of criminally large bonuses...I mean, how much money does an individual need before he can say enough is enough? 31 billion is massive overkill...GBHs...XX

The beauty about being a director in big business is that if you do well, you get big bonuses, if your company falls to pieces, you get an even bigger bonus - that makes sense how? xxx

That, unfortunately, is very true...wish I'd thought of that in my jobs...I did very badly in some but never was I once given a massive bonus for leaving...hmmm...damn...missed out there...GBHs...XX-

I guess I have to decide whether I should get into big business, for the ridiculously big bonuses, or politics, for the expenses that can be claimed! xx

Don't think politicians make that much...and they tend to get arrested if found to be paying relatives etc...whereas Bankers can rob you blind with impunity...GBHs...XXX

£80,000-ish a year with upto £60,000 a year expenses isn't too bad, although you're right that Bankers earn so much more than that! xxx

It makes me mad too - I can't see why these 'bankers' haven't had their shares forfeited and/or been made to pay back the bonuses and share of profits. Bet they are all sitting on massive capital.

The sums are just out of this world aren't they...I mean the average man and woman talks about bonuses of a few hundred or maybe a thousand or so and think they're doing well, but billions...damn...that's just so damned greedy...GBHs...XXX

It is bad news. As I took early retirement I rely on the interest on my savings.
