Hi to everybody...woke up after a good night to an overcast but hot and humid day...had my mini breakfast of about two tablespoons of All Bran and a spoonful of honey and stood on the scales and I haven't lost an ounce off the four extra pounds I've put on...I don't eat anything now at all in the evening and have a very small dinner...last night I had less than an ounce of Penne with a small serving of sauce...I only had one slice of bread yesterday with my lunch so have no idea why I'm not losing it...it's sticking to me like bloody glue! Hmmm...I used to able to lose it quickly if I cut down on my food intake but it's not working anymore...realized the doc's given me a ten day course of antibiotics so should kill both my bad throat and the cat scratch...can still see both when I check them so a slow business getting rid of them...five more days to go now...
Saw 'Rescue Dawn' with Christian Bale last night directed by Werner Hertzog...Bale was very good in it, but a strange story and a very sad one too in parts...not a film I would usually watch about a US pilot's escape from Laos after a bombing raid in 1965, but Hertzog is a good director so did watch it...don't think he used CGI on his actors...because they were painfully thin in it by the end, and, in some parts, from the beginning, and Bale looked as if he'd lost a hell of a lot of weight by the end of it...can't be good for them physically if they did go on massive diets...
That's it for now, hubby's back to work today after his ten day holiday...no letter yet from the PO...getting beyond a farce now...just bloody annoying...Hope you have a good day, are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all...

Any Johnny Depp film I fancy...LOL...and my appetite has dwindled to very little too...sit down and have to force myself to eat something...could be the antibiotics though in my case...And could probably do with a lot more physical exercise...since we don't get our morning paper anymore, we've stopped our daily walk of about a mile and a bit so could be that...think I'm getting lazy...

It's always disheartening when eating less doesn't bring the anticipated weight loss. Hope it works for you soon. xxx

Maybe your body has gone into hibernation, thinking it needs more food so is storing?
I started drinking those Activia things, and I really do feel lighter! Don't know if I am but my jeans are too big today!-

- 30.06.2009 @ 18:19:04
I'm nervous about trying things like Activia because it changes the bacteria in your gut replacing your natural bacteria with its own...I want to know what happens if you stop taking Activia...you could bloat up again until your own bacteria is restored...GBHs...XXX
-
- 30.06.2009 @ 18:26:59
I don't think it replaces it - I think it just enhances it. But you've got me worried now. Would the same not happen with 'live' yoghurt though?

- 30.06.2009 @ 18:35:27
Live yoghurt is excellent for clearing up intestinal bugs, but I wouldn't eat it all the time...the occasional pot of live yoghurt is fine but anything that can change the body's natural bacteria in the gut has to raise a bit of concern in us...GBHs...XXX

Are you sure that you need to lose weight, Jen? I didn't think so but I know that a couple of extra pounds can make you feel sluggish. Don't overdo it, though. x

I need to be about 8 and a half stone for me to feel really comfortable walking...the rod makes carrying an extra four pounds tiring...if I didn't have that, I'd be fine with the weight I am, but the extra pounds puts a lot of pressure round my midriff and causes me to get cramps occasionally which are very painful...darned body...LOL...GBHs...XXX
-
- 01.07.2009 @ 09:26:53
Oh, I can understand your concern then - it sounds very painful. Just take care with the diet though - too little and it will leave you feeling exhausted and ill. x

Oh, I do eat sufficiently well for me not to feel tired...I've got a squashed stomach so can never eat a very big meal...being heavier reduces the space for my stomach even further...I've lost seven inches in height with my back so you can work it out how squashed my poor old insides are...the only thing reduced in size because of the curvature is one lung which is much smaller than the opposite one...LOL...can still breathe well though most of the time...

That's weird that you're eating so little but not losing any weight - perhaps your body is retaining fluid. How many calories a day are you eating?

- 30.06.2009 @ 23:14:31
Sorry, Ravingmad, I haven't the faintest notion...I've never been into calorie counting...think that's a road to nowhere except a great big headache every time you put something in your mouth...I did one once and I was certainly not over what was recommended for my height and age...giving up smoking was a seriously bad idea last year...I put nearly half a stone on while I was off it and haven't been able to lose the last four pounds since...GBHs...XXX

When I was trying to lose weight after packing up smoking I found it really difficult too. I think smoking probably changes your metabolism, because when I started again the weight dropped off pretty easily again (though I did have to drop down to a lot less calories than the recommended daily intake for my height and age, as I don't do very much exercise) but once I'd shed it I found I could go back to eating normally again without putting it back on.

I thought that would happen too but some stuck...and I also think a lack of exercise plays a part...before we used to take a mile and a bit walk every morning to pick up the paper but we stopped taking it and now it's only about two or three times a week that we take a decent walk...

LOL...feel a bit daft reaching it then turning round and walking back...if anybody in the shop sees us, they'll think we've lost it...

Not a chance...Ray's chronically allergic to animal fur...probably why he had such bad asthma when we did have cats and dogs in the past...our son got a cat and we went up to stay with him one weekend...lasted one day before Ray all but collapsed with a terrible asthma attack...never ever again...

Keep it up.....it will come off. Get on centre court with Andrew Murray Mint and you might find you'll shift it.
I find that in this very sticky weather my appetite has gone.
I'm quite fancying that new movie with Johnny Depp - Public Enemy.
