Hi to everybody...had a good night and woke to clouds and a very light misty rain...decided we'd still have to go shopping and wanted to pick up some more Euros for France at the end of the month...so, of we go for the 11.15 bus and it's on time! Got into Poole and started shopping and walked through the market after calling in at the Bank for the Euros only to discover that part of the Bank is closed on a Saturday!! Brilliant...Anyway, did a big shop in Sainsbury's and walked along to Smiths that now has the PO in it and got into the right queue after standing in the wrong one for a few minutes...no signs indicating which one was right...had to wait a quarter of an hour while a couple discussed sending a passport or something somewhere and got to the counter...asked for our Euros and intended to pay by Switch...oh, no, nothing is that easy...'have you got a passport or driving licence?' 'No, why do we need those?...because HSBC isn't one of our banks so we can't except your card without identification...bus passes clearly aren't acceptable even though they've got our pics on them...did lose my cool at that and walked out of Smiths with a few choice swear words, mostly because standing anywhere for a quarter of an hour and a bit more in one spot knackers me...anyway, apart from that, we had a good shop and caught the 1.20 bus back home...they've decided to change the bus timetable to one at half past, one at twenty to the hour and another route altogether at 20 past the hour so if you miss that half hour slot you've got to wait forty minutes for the next bus!!! How bloody stupid...used to be on the hour, on the half hour and twenty past so far less time to wait should you miss one...sometimes I feel like despairing of this world...there's no logic to it anymore...
Came home and had lunch and then sat down upstairs and fell asleep...something I rarely do but was really tired...it was hot by the time we got home as the sun had come out and the clouds had drifted away but still I was very tired...the antibiotics haven't touched the white spot on the back of my throat so that must be something other than tonsilitis though my throat still feels a bit sore in general...will go back to the doc after our hols...don't want anybody checking it out before then and besides I've had it now since the first week of May or around that time I noticed it...my cat scratch seems to be healing up at last...can still see a red little mark where the claw went in but doesn't hurt now if I put any pressure on it...at least the antibiotics might have helped that...![]()
Was going to make bread this afternoon but too darned whacked...LOL...just spending the rest of the day relaxing and besides hubby didn't go to bed until 6.30 and was up at 10 so he hasn't had much sleep today...hope you're all having a lovely weekend and are seeing some sunshine and send great big hugs to one and all for now...

What was even more annoying was there was a guy there directing us to the right queue and he was saying France is very expensive now so get extra Euros...he didn't say if you haven't got passports or driving licences don't bother queuing! DOH...GBHs...XXX

Yes bus companies run the buses to suit their own convenience not to make life easy for the passengers. I hate standing in queues.

That's really annoying having to queue for no good reason! They should have had a nice big notice on display for people to see telling them what documentation would be needed!

Yes, they should...wasting our lives standing in wretched queues and then having to walk away empty handed is infuriating...this world is so full of crap now that the ordinary man and woman in the street has to jump through hoops now just to get their money into or out of a bank or the PO...I know they're protecting themselves against money laundering but it's removing our ability to be free with our own money and that's seriously bad...We wanted £200 of Euros because we've already got some left over from last year and how the hell that paltry amount is going to have anything to do with money laundering I've no damned idea!! Just annoys the hell out of me...

They always tell us lots about things we don't need to know, but nothing at all about the most basic things!

There should be one rule for all banks and PO's...had our card been attached to a bank attached to the PO...whatever that means, we'd have been fine, but our bank, one of the most well known, isn't??? Why should that be allowed? All money transactions, say over £1000, could require some form of identification but anything below that, which is probably what most people will be dealing with, shouldn't require passports or driving licences just to get your own money...it's getting really invasive now...It's not as if the banks have looked after our money properly!!...they seem to have lost vast amounts of it!...We should ask them for identification as to their qualifications for looking after our money...GBHs...XXX

I think building societies are a better bet nowadays

you'll find most are owned by the big banks now but keep their name...very few BS's left now that haven't been taken over behind the scenes...interesting to check out exactly who does own which bank and building society now...could be in for some unpleasant surprises...GBHs...XXX

Don't think I can be bothered - I just go for the best interest rates and hope for the best

I don't do that anymore...I go for who owns the bank...LOL...the interest rates at the moment are so awful, and you find a fairly decent one only to find it rapidly going down with each reduction in the interest rates so it's a very poor return for our savings almost everywhere now...bad business all round and what's so infuriating is it's the banks' faults and we are paying for it...GBHs...XXX

That business in the post office would have annoyed me too - I'm terrible at queueing!
